The highlights include citizens celebrating on Sparks, Elgin, and Wellington Streets, as well as Parliament Hill. Born in Scotland, James McKinlay Sharp was sent by the British Admiralty to Ottawa in 1940 as part of a mission to assist the Royal Canadian Navy. He returned to Scotland at the end of the war but later immigrated to Canada
